To get started I would suggest going to the Information Center and
selecting Programming/APIs/APIs by category/Print/General Print APIs and
then paging down to the Exit programs section. From there you might find
the Writer Transform and Print Driver entries to be of interest...

Hi midrangers,
I'm in a situation where I would like to support a printer that is
unsupported natively by the iSeries.
I've got the technical specs for the printer, and I've written RPG code
in the past to drive the printer, but I want this printer to be able to
accept any *SCS spooled file on the system, not just spools especially
written for this printer.
Can I write my own printer driver?
Any particularly good resources for getting started?
