Quite honestly, I'm not entirely sure myself, but I do know that it's a long, slow process, and you definitely don't want to wait until the end of your grace period to take care of it. Something else that seems to affect it: Can I assume that this particular machine is one that's only turned on when actually needed? That's the case with the one on which we've had the problem, and I believe it's no coincidence. So: 1. Since (if I remember right) the grace period clock is only running when the machine is turned on, you should avoid turning the machine on until you get your system password 2. Once you get it, you should put the machine on an "exercise cycle" that will power it up once a week whether it's needed or not. I just checked some old emails, and at least as of October 23, 2001, my contact for system passwords was Juliette Glover with the "Sales Order Support Team." I hope this is of some help. -- JHHL
