OK, how do I get the >authority? I have tried setting up a share on my pc and giving my iSeries >UserId authority to it, but windows always prefixes the iSeries user I add >with the '\\LocalMachineName\' and it still doesn't work. And you _do_ have that profile defined as a local machine user, right? And passwords match (including case)? My first guess would be that your PC is defined as a workgroup member rather than as part of a Windows domain. If so, then the matching Windows profile must be defined on your PC. If not, then the profile should be defined in the Windows domain (with matching password). Also, did you manually create the /QNTC directory or did it appear automatically through normal NetServer execution. If you created it yourself, did you use Windows machine name or specify IP address? And are you at V5R1 or V5R2? Plenty more when crossing Windows domain boundaries (trust relationships, firewalls, who knows what else).
