Just an FYI for me , are you using ops > console and what > type of system is it. Good luck Again, I have no system save tape, because I have no tape drive on this machine. Therefore, the only route for me is scratch install of V5R1 and go from there. That means I lose WebSphere completely, because I have no media for WebSphere for V5R1, and I don't know if you can even get WAS35SE (5733AS3) media for V5R1 (if anybody knows, please feel free to post that information). That's okay, though, because only one of my clients still has WAS35SE, and I need to support other options anyway. So I'm reasonably certain that there's no way out of this, and I may as well start the scratch install of V5R1. I'm going to sleep on it tonight, so if anybody has any insights, let me know. But if something doesn't change my mind, I'm going for the installation. Oh, just so you know, the machine is a model 270 and I use a brick (dumb tube) for the console, even though it WANTS a PC (I always have an A900 on my SRC display). Joe
