This is a multipart message in MIME format. -- [ Picked text/plain from multipart/alternative ] Ah hah! I just got off the phone with IBM. Scott you are not using the 'old' 2gb tapes that worked in the old 2gb tape drive. There is definitely a difference. The IBM guy mentioned these MLR1 and basically they're a shorter tape, etc. I wonder if you can read those in the old 2gb tape drives? Because if I take the old 2.5 gb tapes there is no way I can initialize those. I tried *QIC2GB, *CTGTYPE and ended up with CPF6763. I read the help and tried *QIC2DC but that resulted in CPD0084. Which says that the help is full of reindeer droppings. Rob Berendt -- "They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety." That chart is from IBM, so I'm not the only one in the world that thinks they work. :) I use them all the time for backing up smaller things, since they're a little cheaper than the 25gb tapes. They work nicely. On Mon, 23 Dec 2002, John Taylor wrote: > > We have an 6386 as well. It's been a real flakey drive, with IBM having to > replace it every 4-6 mths for us.
