Rob, We have an 6386 as well. It's been a real flakey drive, with IBM having to replace it every 4-6 mths for us. They (IBM)seem content to keep replacing it as opposed to trying to figure out what's going on. For what it's worth, I can't initialize a 2GB tape either. Scott, what format parameter (QIC2GB?) are you using, and which tapes?
