Dave Weber from IBM replaced the tape drive this morning.

Since then we've done 4 INZTAP's to it. 3 were CLEAR(*NO) and averaged 5
write errors. 1 was a CLEAR(*YES) and got 12 write errors. We expect
zero. After all, our 3590 and 3581's write to several tapes and never
experienced a write error this weekend.
Yet another new tape drive is on order for tomorrow.

Chuck, do you use 25gb tapes?
If you do a PRTERRLOG TYPE(*VOLSTAT) VOLTYPE(6386) do you find a lot of
write errors?
What tapes can you write to? Scott said he can write to 2gb tapes, but I
can't even INZTAP a 2gb tape in that drive.

I can get it to read those tapes, but not write to them.

How's about this?
