The tapes are MLR1-2GB and I initialize them with INZTAP DENSITY(*CTGTYPE)

I provided the URL for a chart that lists them as compatible with the 6386
in my last message.  That chart is from IBM, so I'm not the only one in
the world that thinks they work.  :)

I use them all the time for backing up smaller things, since they're a
little cheaper than the 25gb tapes.  They work nicely.
