This is a multipart message in MIME format. -- [ Picked text/plain from multipart/alternative ] Chuck, Speaking of 8mm's. Our 840 has: 25gb 7208 8mm one 3590 two 3581 one 9348 reel-to-reel one dvd two cd's. Our new upgrade will replace two side cars with SPD busses with a new sidecar. In that process we'll lose the 7208 8mm but gain another DVD. If you got an upgrade in your future you might want to explore your media. We dumped our 3570's. Too many problems. (Gee, maybe the "Money talks..." argument didn't apply there.) Rob Berendt -- "They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety." I WISH Rob... I've stuck with that 9427-210 8mm. It just had the main tape drive/unit in it replaced yesterday. This is the 3rd or 4th time in the last year or so... Since then we've done 4 INZTAP's to it. 3 were CLEAR(*NO) and averaged 5 write errors. 1 was a CLEAR(*YES) and got 12 write errors. We expect zero. After all, our 3590 and 3581's write to several tapes and never experienced a write error this weekend. Yet another new tape drive is on order for tomorrow. Chuck, do you use 25gb tapes? If you do a PRTERRLOG TYPE(*VOLSTAT) VOLTYPE(6386) do you find a lot of write errors? What tapes can you write to? Scott said he can write to 2gb tapes, but I can't even INZTAP a 2gb tape in that drive.
