That would be a nice option.  It would be nice if the interface were
supported by a single 20 foot cable with a small box or split pigtail end
that the monitor and keyboard would plug into.

What is a KVM?

Ops Console supports the notion that a single PC can support the console
function as well as all the other stuff that people use a PC for (like, Web
browsing).  I like that as an option, too.

The problem is that the Ops Console software is prone to failure.  And when
it fails, you get no more information than an alert message saying that it
failed.  And it provides no way to recover from the failure, which in my
case pertained to a problem with the Dial-up Networking component, I think.

Ops Console needs to be more reliable, and recoverable.

Walden, the simple interface you propose perpetuates the notion of using a
green-screen for all console operations.  I support that, too.  But others
disagree, evidently.  Otherwise, why would IBM be putting so much work into
Operations Navigator?
