Terry -- I have bought several model 400 systems. The tricky part is finding out if the V4R3 software is actually licensed to the box you are buying. If it is, the V4R3 operating system license transfers with the box. Other IBM LPP (licensed program products) that are licensed to your new system can also be transferred if the seller gives you the certificates of ownership to prove that the ownership actually transferred (sort of like a automobile pink slip). So the cost of software may be zero, depending on what licenses can be transferred. Be careful that you have enough memory and disk to do what you want, the newer operating systems require a lot of memory...
