1) Why are you staying at V4R5 and not going to V5R1? Support of older clients? 2) The model 400 will upgrade to V5R1. However it will NOT accept any follow on releases. Link available upon request. 3) I can understand a desire for internals. It is my understanding that some of the timeshares will not let you access certain API's, adopt authority, etc. And if you do the kind of programming I do - you'd go nuts. However if you stick with the 'traditional' stuff then maybe a timeshare would be a better deal. Let them keep current and not sweat you. 4) Sorry I don't know anything about the legality of transferring licenses, upgrade fees, etc. Perhaps your business partner could help you out better. I might be able to get a used Model 400. It is currently running V3R7 and it has a copy of V4R3 in the box uninstalled. IF I could get this *cheap*, does anyone know what it would cost to upgrade to V4R5 (I've heard that you can get all of the compilers by PTF). I'm just a programmer who wants to have one for home :) Any ideas or thoughts on this?
