Jeff, You certainly can do IP over an asynch connection. I would check out the documentation for creating a PPP connection using Operations Navigator. AFAIK, the configuration _cannot_ be created using green screen commands. The link below gives some information from the InfoCenter, probably the best source on this topic. http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/html/as400/v5r1/ic2924/index.htm Regards, Andy Nolen-Parkhouse > ... it has occured to me that I will probably not be able to run IP or > APPC > over an asynch connection ? > > Jeff B > > > Hi all, > I've had a nose through the archive, there was a thread 16 months > ago on this > subject, but it didn't have a particularly good match for my problem ... > > a) I have an asynchronous modem attached to a V.24 port on my > AS/400; > b) I want to use it to automatically transfer a (small) file to a > remote AS/400; > c) I guess I need to configure an Asynch Line, Controller and Device > for it; > d) I would like to be able to use a DDM file, or perhaps FTP to do > the transfer, as > I plan to use a CL program to control the process (RPG is not an > option). > > Can someone point me in the right direction for the config and most > appropriate transfer > technique ? I've also had a look in the manuals and redbooks ... no luck. > > Kind Regards, > > Jeff Bull
