  The only difference I am able to detect is that the QPADEVxxxx device was
auto-created (or automatically selected if an existing one is available) as
a more "modern" device type (3488 vs. 3197.)  I don't understand why this
would be the answer, since the 3197 is capable of 27x132 and neither is a
programmable workstation.

  If I had to guess I would say that there's a PTF out there...
