Title: RE: last OS400 ver for M36?
Actually there are two ways M36 can happen:

You can map twinax devices so that they will automagically display S36 signon at power up.  These guys can later passthru to the AS400 to do AS400 tasks.

- or -

You can simply let yourself be an AS400 (no mapping in WRKM36CFG) and then run the TFRM36 command to jump into the M36.  This command lets to assign yourself a 2digit S36 workstation ID like W6.

Printers must be mapped in WRKM36CFG but you can map a CNFIGSSP printer to an AS400 outq which is the only way you can do a TN5250 printer.  However, this is where I am stuck (see my posts on
"5219/3812 *M36/iSeries outq issue" on midrange-l for which I have no solution.

Well, you just shot down an ASSumption I made about M36 mode.  You can jump into native mode on a box running M36?

What about the AS/36?  Again, I assume that was a "pure" M36 box.  Are you able to go native on an AS/36?

I'll admit that there might be some 'pure' M36 customers.  But I would hope
that some are running mixed mode:  Some native, some M36, and maybe some
36E.  The developers working on the M36 don't care what version the OS is
on.  They're lemmings.  The developers working in the native version are
either working on seperate projects or the replacement solution.  They
might care about which version the OS is on.  These companies might have to
make a decision as to when to 's^!+ or get off the pot'.
