I have seen within the last 2-3 years on the AS/400 education sites some flow 
chart of classes offered by IBM which say something like

"If your duties include ...."
"If you need to know ...."

then it gives the classes that you need to take & the subjects that you need 
to learn.
Quite possibly this would give you some clues.
