Ð Hello Neil, If they are running a variant of OS/2 then there should be a program called rexecd.exe in \tcpip\bin which is the remote command server. This must be active before the AS/400 can send commands. You can start that by: 1/ Using TCPCFG and selecting rexecd under the autostart tab 2/ Typing START REXECD You must also assign a password for REXEC users. You can do that from TCPCFG under the Security tab on the second page. You can also do that by simply adding the USER and PASSWD environment variables to CONFIG.SYS. Either method will require a reboot and is not exactly secure. A slightly better method is to open an OS/2 command window, run set USER=user-name, run set PASWD=password, then run rexecd. This method won't require a reboot. The REXECD server will listen on port 512 unless the services file points it elsewhere. There is also a client program called rexec.exe which will allow you to send commands to the AS/400 if the AS/400 remote command server is active. The AS/400 TCP server is called *REXEC. Use STRTCPSVR to activate it. Details on the OS/2 implementations of rexec and rexecd are in the TCP/IP command reference which can be found by: a/ Open the Assistance Center folder (usually on the desktop) b/ Open the Information folder c/ Expand the Reference and Commands tree d/ Double-click on TCP/IP Command Reference Regards, Simon Coulter. «»«»«»«»«»«»«»«»«»«»«»«»«»«»«»«»«»«»«»«»«»«»«»«»«»«»«»«»«»«»«»«»«»«» «» FlyByNight Software AS/400 Technical Specialists «» «» Eclipse the competition - run your business on an IBM AS/400. «» «» «» «» Phone: +61 3 9419 0175 Mobile: +61 0411 091 400 /"\ «» «» Fax: +61 3 9419 0175 mailto: shc@flybynight.com.au \ / «» «» X «» «» ASCII Ribbon campaign against HTML E-Mail / \ «» «»«»«»«»«»«»«»«»«»«»«»«»«»«»«»«»«»«»«»«»«»«»«»«»«»«»«»«»«»«»«»«»«»«» +--- | This is the Midrange System Mailing List! | To submit a new message, send your mail to MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com. | To subscribe to this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-SUB@midrange.com. | To unsubscribe from this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-UNSUB@midrange.com. | Questions should be directed to the list owner/operator: david@midrange.com +---
