I can accept the the OS/400 interfaces to the values are not available, but the values themselves must surely "exist". Otherwise, the implication is that they're created from nothing during IPL. > > Surely IBM knows how to locate and access the values. I mean, they wrote the parts of OS/400 that make them available. How can it be possible that it _can't_ be done during DST? Well, that would make the IPL process dependant on the OS/400 implementation, wouldn't it? As Al pointed out, at one time you didn't even need to have OS/400 to boot that hardware. I'd agree on "it would be nice if..." but maybe the reality of the implementation is that it isn't such a good idea. > > Tom Liotta > > > -- > Tom Liotta > The PowerTech Group, Inc. > 19426 68th Avenue South > Kent, WA 98032 > Phone 253-872-7788 > Fax 253-872-7904 > http://www.400Security.com > > +--- | This is the Midrange System Mailing List! | To submit a new message, send your mail to MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com. | To subscribe to this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-SUB@midrange.com. | To unsubscribe from this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-UNSUB@midrange.com. | Questions should be directed to the list owner/operator: david@midrange.com +---
