Twinax Balen's use the center pair of wires. Same as phone Tip and Ring.

In 6 pin connectors, it's pins 3 and 4, in 8 pin connectors it's 4 and 5.

They are polarity sensitive, but unfortunately there is no standard on what the
polarity is. It is very possible, and common, to get balens from two different
manufacturers with different polarity. So, you need to make sure you use the
same polarity type with the same polarity type (one balen on each end of the
pair, connected to the device and to your AS/400). Since you already have
a set of balens, this shouldn't be a problem.

We did that once. Actually we put a 6299 in the other building and ran
seven devices there. As far as which wires, that is dependent on which two
your AT&T adapter (I assume it's a Balun of some sort) needs. Different
ones need different wires. Sometimes it's written on it, look for
something like 3/6 or 4/5. Those would be the wires needed.

Hi All
I have a need for a Twinax printer in a building other than the one I and
the AS400 are currently located. This is probably not more than 300 to 400
feet distance. Through the use of telephone patch panels I have a few pairs
of wires running between the buildings. I also have available to use AT&T
Adapters that receive in a RJ45 plug and output Twinax. Thinking that
Twinax
only uses two wires, does anyone know what positions of the eight on the
RJ45 these wires would need to be connected? Has anyone done anything
similar to this and if so has it worked reasonably well, if at all?
Any information would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in Advance
Scotty
