You bring up an interesting question, but I personally would be
less concerned the shelf life of CD data than I would be with the
practical life of the CD _drives_.  For how many more years will
we all still have CD drives connected to our computers?   Will we
be able to get data off of a CD and back onto a computer 5 or 7
years from now?

At home I have 6 10MB bernoulli cartridges (8.5" x 11") 4 IRWIN
40MB tapes, and about 200 5.25" diskettes on which something
valuable might be stored... I just don't have the technical
ability to read them anymore.  Although I could easily find a
working 5.25" diskette drive and add it to my desktop, where the
heck am I going to find a working 10MB bernouilli box??? :(
