Mine is a automatic telephone line tester VB app for a Telco.Customer
provisioning orders are held on IBMS ICMS application(AS/400 only) and the
application that tests the line runs on Oracle on R/S6000s.
Once the order closes my VB application takes over and does the required
tests ICMS-Oracle-Customers line and reopens the order
if a faulty return code is found.
Before that the line tests were only done manually on a custom made
front end(Uniface 4GL) that ran on the RS/6000s.The user had to look at the
AS/400 green screen "service order" and than type the telephone number and
some other parameters into the RS.
I had only been programming for eight months when I completed this,
so I was really pleased when it worked out so well.
