On a regular occurrence (5-6 times a >day), we are experiencing Client Access dropping out at the desk top, >however the actual job remains active and we do not notice a problem until a >user calls us. This only occurs with 4 users out of a userbase of 60 clients. (I have >also closely followed the recent "Inactivity time out" thread - which is a >similar but not identical problem) The parameters you are interested in are TIMMRKTIMO in CHGTELNA and TCPKEEPALV in CHGTCPA. The former, measured in seconds, is how often the AS/400 will check a Telnet client to make sure it is still alive. The latter, measured in minutes, is how often the AS/400 will check any TCP/IP client to make sure it is alive. This is not a check for activity, it is a check to make sure that the other end is still there. I have TCPKEEPALV set at 5 minutes and TIMMRKTIMO set at 60 seconds. If a Telnet client dies, it will be no longer than 60 seconds before the AS/400 detectes it and starts ending the job. Ken Southern Wine and Spirits of Nevada, Inc.
