I did some work here that may be of interest in this thread.
I wrote a program that uses DSPFD to an outfile and scans our physical files
(excluding source files) looking for cases where:
*       There are multiple disk increments are in use.
*       # deleted records is greater than # of records in an increment.
We then run RGPFM on the files/members identified. We made sure our
applications folks are "on board" so we know which path to use for optimum
performance.

The first time we ran this (the files had not been reorganized in a while),
we got about 2.5 to 3% of the disk back on a 48GB system. Saved us ordering
more disk.  As you can imagine, our management "took that to the bank". This
process is now part of our regularly scheduled inventory of "housekeeping".
