  • Subject: V4R4 upgrade without upgrading CA for Win 95/NT

Hey, y'all!

We're upgrading our machine from V4R2 to V4R4 this Sunday. As part of that,
we're installing Client Access Express with a view of migrating our users to
that within the next month or two. We're currently running V3R1M3 of CA for
95/NT. If we do a "normal" V4R4 upgrade, the version on the /400 will be
replaced with V3R2M0. We would rather not do that at this time, since it makes
no sense to deal with all the PC's in seven remote locations twice, particularly
since we have many users who are not experienced with PC software installs. Is
it safe to tell the machine NOT to upgrade 5763XD1? We won't be applying any
more PTF's to V3R1M3, since we already have the most recent and supposedly final
service pack installed on it, so I can't think of any reason why it might cause
us problems. Has anyone done this, or does anyone have any ideas about it?
Thanks in advance!
