Jo Ann, We had EZVIEW at my previous job. It has a feature that stores the field definitions in files in its library, rather than retrieving them from the file description every time. It performs slightly better with the feature turned on. The main problem with it is that it doesn't always recognize when it needs to refresh the retrieved descriptions for a particular file. There's an option somewhere to manually trigger a refresh - maybe in the Services menu (F13?). I wish I could remember better, but I always had to hunt for it when I needed it, and now I haven't used the product in more than 6 months. Dave Shaw -----Original Message----- From: burelle@bigy.com [mailto:burelle@bigy.com] Dan; I changed my dds source from COLHDG('FILLER 5') to COLHDG('EXPIRATION DATE' 'NEEDED'), prompted the CHGPF command, made sure my sourcefile and library where in SRCFILE, made DLTDEPLF *NO. It took awhile, said it changed, but when I looked at if with EZVIEW I saw the same description, but when I did a QUERY over that file I saw the new description. So, THANK YOU 8-))). I also did a dspffd and saw the new description, any idea where EZVIEW gets it field descriptions? +--- | This is the Midrange System Mailing List! | To submit a new message, send your mail to MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com. | To subscribe to this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-SUB@midrange.com. | To unsubscribe from this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-UNSUB@midrange.com. | Questions should be directed to the list owner/operator: david@midrange.com +---
