Well... i agree :-)Better: a true p.e. only knows the DSP cmd and then OBJ() ;-)
But the AS/400 is therefore not a "very" oo environment.

Well... this is really a tough job (to "emulate" classes :-) and not *that*
necessary at all (fortunately) until there is no oo design for the applications.

Of course i have to be more precise (not for u but perhaps for others ;-):
with RPG IV (Version4) it is relatively easy to code an oo "designed"
application/environment

BUT: real oo languages are IMHO strongly "connected" with "event related
programming". And for this purpose the native AS/400 (i.e. including the
terminals and *not* using PCs) is not able to help. - If i cannot realize *any*
user action (holding ALT key down, etc) then it isn't possible to get an
event/action programming environment.

the only events, i can handle, are rarely found and needs a lotta additional
programming (the CHANGE at *DSPF is an example but still complicated to handle).
