I don't think anyone would do Telnet with level 10/20 or possibly 30 on their AS/400 but levels 40/50 would slow down the hack attacks. Throw in the usual change of passwords on ALL ibm profiles and you minimize the exposure. BTW, if the remote location is a branch office with a static IP, the router can do some filtering or call back. I'm not saying that Telnet is an answer for everybody. If you have sensitive data you don't want anyone being able to snoop your traffic, but it can be a low cost/effective solution for some. James W.
