You're right. That to me would seem to be the best solution. There will be 
minimal changes to convert it to native RPG, but nothing too involved....

Pete,
I may be wrong, but why can't you simply compile the program in question   
as a Native AS400 program instead of RPG36 and then you should have your   
access to the *DATE. You should be able to use this in the S36EE and call   
it from OCL as well. If I'm off-base here, would someone please jump in   
real quick?
