Jeff,

Sounds like my first answer ain't gonna work if the 'users' on the
3277s are actually jobs on the mainframe. Let's go in a different
direction completely and assume some type of connection to the 2nd
AS/400 instead of the first.

How far apart are the AS/400s? Let's assume your setup matches one of
these scenarios:

1) MF-SDLC-AS/400-----T/R-----AS/400 Where the 400s are within a few
hundred feet.
Possible solution: Use a V.35 or V.24 port extender to physically
extend the SDLC line to the 2nd AS/400. See Black box or South Hills
for a couple hundred bucks.

2) Same as above but with no copper between or too much distance to 2nd
AS/400.
Possible solution: Get two small routers (such as 2210-12T) one at
each AS/400 location and use one serial port on each with DLSW to carry
the Serial Connection across the T/R to the 2nd AS/400.

3) MF-SDLC-AS/400--T/R--ROuter-WAN-Router--T/R--AS/400 Where the 400s
are connected accross a WAN by Routers.
Possible solution: Use a serial port on each router to connect the
SDLC line from site to site to the 2nd AS/400 using DLSW or similair.
