Jeff,

I wrote programs to transmit Visa and Mastercard info to banks in the
U.S. (I'm in Canada).  One was to an IBM mainframe and one was a non-IBM
midrange.  Didn't need to purchase anything extra.  Just used good old
rpg and icf files.  Sorry but I don't have any of the code since I left
the insurance company 4 years ago.  Some people were trying to convince
me to purchase the communications software for the AS/400 (including an
IBM liason to the Royal Bank) but all it took was to have someone
knowledgeable at the other end.  When it didn't work at first, I needed
someone at the other end to see what I was sending, what I should have
been sending, and what they were sending back.
