I'll second that!

Now just because I'm in the software biz doesn't mean I'm software biased <G> 
but
old code has old techniques or is just plain lousy and can make a persons skin
crawl just looking at it.  When it's as good as it can be, then and only then 
does
a change in hardware become a consideration.  No bias, none at all, really....

IMHO, the justification to offload is to "reduce cycles" is just a bull**** 
excuse
for putting in an environment that the higher up feels more comfortable
with......after all why should he learn a new system when he can force you to?
