charlie,

I am curious how many people are actually using ILE to develop their
applications. I have several questions:

Are you using RPG IV or ILE COBOL?
rpg iv

If so, are you just experimenting or are
you developing all of your new code in RPG IV or ILE COBOL?
just experimenting. actually, just heard about the d-specs, the upper/lower
case, the longer field names, etc. and decided to start playing around. If
there are "pieces" of the d-spec's etc, i don't understand, i'll write them in
RPG and use cvtrpgsrc to see the rpg iv code.

Are you just taking PDM option 14 (CRTBNDRPG or CRTBNDCBL) to compile your
RPG IV and ILE COBOL programs or are you using PDM option 15 (CRTRPGMOD or
CRTCBLMOD) to create modules, followed by a CRTPGM to bind the modules into
a program object.
option 14. why? is there a better way.

Are you using service programs?
huh?

Are you running your RPG IV code in the default activation group or are you
using named activation groups, *NEW, or *CALLER?
huh?

Are you using binding directories?
huh?

Are you using binder language?
huh?

And finally, are you using data management scoping?
huh?

I'll try to tabulate the results of this survey. Thanks in advance for your
responses.

obviously, there's quite a bit i'm missing. when you publish your survey
results, could you provide titles of printed material so that someone could
come up to speed faster?

thx, l
