Everyone, Please bear with me about any "off-Postings" (which I hope are not off-putting (:)). When I try to send a private response to anyone on the list, it s t i l l ends up on the list: after giving me a message about "not being enrolled in this list so we will review your message for suitability", etc. Frustrating! Anyway, in response to Gregor's (aus Deutschland?) question about the web-address where I obtained my copy of: Assembler Language Programming the Ibm System 3 Struble, George (USED, hardcover) It is evidently coming from http://www.powells.com. I say "evidently" because I received an E-mail confirmation from them; I had originally found the book by searching on amazon.com using the keywords "System/36 Assembly Language" or similar. I haven't actually received the book yet! rhart@atcdgis.com -----Original Message----- From: Schumacher, Gregor - HLG [mailto:Gregor.Schumacher@hays-logistics.com] Sent: Tuesday, October 29, 2002 3:56 AM To: 'mi400@midrange.com' Subject: AW: [MI400] A Blast from the Past Can you give us the web-adress, I just want to have a look on the old but good stuff. regards Gregor -----Ursprungliche Nachricht----- Von: Richard Hart [mailto:rhart@ATCDG.COM] Gesendet: Montag, 28. Oktober 2002 22:08 An: mi400@midrange.com Betreff: RE: [MI400] A Blast from the Past Hi Bruce, Thanks for your offer. I was able to locate a book on the web about System/3 Assembler (!), which I assume was the ancestor of System/34 (and System/36. However, I would appreciate it if you could run me off a copy; I would be happy to send you a cheque for your time and postage. I was interested in how the macroprocessor worked (I remember that was one of the topics covered in the manual). Not to show my age either, but I started with the System/34. Actually, I/S is my second career (or first, since being a bank teller was not exactly a career :)). We wanted to purchase a System/38, but there was no banking software written for it at the time (1982). Thanks again for your response, Richard Hart P.S. I still have the manual for the AS/400 Edit-Document function of Office; I am not sure why, since I really never used it (I forget the exact title). EDTDOC was hard for me to master, although I have talked to folk who really liked it. Anyway, I will be happy to give it away if anyone would like to have it (admirers of ancient word processing implementations! ... ) -----Original Message----- From: Bruce Vining [mailto:bvining@us.ibm.com] Sent: Tuesday, October 22, 2002 2:40 PM To: mi400@midrange.com Subject: Re: [MI400] A Blast from the Past I happen to have a copy of the S/36 Programming with Assembler manual (SC21-7908) if that's the one you're looking for. It's not for sale, but I could run off a copy for you if you don't get any better responses. And not to show my age around here, but I also still have my copy of the S/34 Basic Assembler and Macro Processor Reference (SC21-7705). Can't say that I've used either recently, but they sure got some use many years ago when I was an SE... Well, preferably BUY; used is OK. I had a nostalgia attack last week when I realized my one-and-only copy had disappeared somehow. IBM no longer sells them, evidently.
