Just something the > old OPM compilers generate as an intermediate language. TIMI does stand for > Technology Independent Machine Interface but that is _not_ MI This is what the authors of 'The optimizing translator' at http://as400.rochester.ibm.com/beyondtech/translator.htm say about MI: One of the most distinguishing features of the AS/400 computer system is the technology-independent machine interface (MI). The MI architecture defines a complete set of instructions to operate on data and objects, and to control a program's flow of control. In conjunction with development of the Integrated Language Environment (ILE), the MI architecture was extended with additional computation and branching instructions based on W-Code, which is the compiler intermediate language generated by the latest generation of IBM compiler front ends. The result of these extensions is commonly referred to as new MI (NMI). At least in their minds, MI is one if the "most distinguishing features of the AS/400 computer system" rather than 'just something..." +--- | This is the MI Programmers Mailing List! | To submit a new message, send your mail to MI400@midrange.com. | To subscribe to this list send email to MI400-SUB@midrange.com. | To unsubscribe from this list send email to MI400-UNSUB@midrange.com. | Questions should be directed to the list owner/operator: dr2@cssas400.com +---
