That's correct Jim, the language you're seeing in the postings is MI. If
you've ever seen PL/1 (or PL/I) then this source should look very
familiar.

As for the physical source file types, in PDM you can make them of type
whatever you want, although the logical thing would be to make them type
MI, just like you'ed make your RPG source files type RPG. However, there
is no built-in syntax checker via SEU like there is for RPG, CL, DDS,
CMD etc.

You use the QPRCRTPGM API, documented in the System API Manual. News/400
(and others, including me) have source for 'front-ends' to this API that
you can use to ease the creation of MI programs.

You just call them, just like you would call the System API's in RPG -
as most of the System API's are MI programs !
