An issue I've seen pop up over the years is where the FDF has an error in it, it's missing one of the format chars. The below example worked to upload user entered text & numeric data. Let's face it certain people are far more productive using Excel - plus you don't tie-up a MAPICS license for the task! In the example below, the second line has a '1' in it, the signifies it includes text and numeric. Sometimes the '2' is missing, simply edit the file with notepad, add the '2', save and run. I am trying to take an excel spreadsheet that I initially created from the 400 with data. Some data was keyed inot columns that I provided. When I try to transfer the spreadsheets back to the 400 I am getting errors that data in this field is incorrect or does not match the PC data type. I think what has happened is the users keyed into a flds that they were not meant to. I have tried using the data transfer off the client access session. I have also tried using the data transfer option on the speadsheet itself. Neither works. Hope this makes sense..... Is there a way to prevent this??? Thanks in advance...
