That's a frightening thought - exactly what piece of paper are they
signing-off?

Shur-Lok after 56 years as an independent shop was just acquired by a
large
publicly traded company. So interesting things will most likely start in
the new future.

The immediate issue is whether to be pro-active and try to get a grip on
what it
means - or wait till corporate guides us?

Regards...james

Mfg acct is what used to be called cost accounting. We installed
SCM(thruput) and are embracing theory of constraints ideology at our
plant.
The concept of thruput is that we don't care about cost dollars, just
thruput dollars. So they renamed departments and titles, etc.

Love the levity... we have what seems to be (millions) of SOX police here
also. Beyond ridiculous! We can't go to the bathroom without someone
signing off a piece of paper!

never heard of mfg acct as one dept ?? SOX - what does baseball have
to
   do with it...

just wanted to add some levity....

Seriously, this is usually a coordinated attempt with a point person
assign....to be sure all task are completed, usually someone from acct,
they are the one that get anal about month end cutoffs (G/L) sorry
acct
folks..... lol I have not experienced any hard and fast rules....
as
to who pushes the button to close each module. But, there is some
coordination between modules that needs to occur, COM needs to close
before SA, and IM etc..... just my 2 cents.

     Sounds like a SOX company....
Most companies I do work at. It is either I.T or Acctg. or both...

IT does not do Infor menu options except CAS (security & backups,
     reorgs,
etc.). And we only key in the security managers in other departments
     tell
us, we do not make the decisions on who has what security.

     Good Morning List,

We're reevaluating some responsibilities, and are wondering about
month-end closeouts. What department at your company is typically
responsible for performing MAPICS month end closeouts?
