However you decide to handle item comments, the COM files provide a great place to enter them. The most important file is MBEDCPP - Comment Xref to Item. The key is item number and it tells you the comment number it is stored under. You can then look up MBAXREP - Comment Lines directly for the text. The screens are already written so no work required to start using them, plus they can print automatically on all the COM reports. To include the text on Mapics reports, you are potentially looking at a lot of modifications or rewriting of the reports. May I suggest the Mapics report writer, Info WorkPlace (IWP)? IWP can cut development costs of reporting by a factor of 5-10 times and will eliminate the need to modify Mapics for every report. The reports can be run by the user, or included in batch job processing for automatic execution within a job stream. See my previous post today, or contact me off list for more info. Creating the file is the easy part--getting MAPICS to see it is the hard part. Any user exits I'm not aware of? Thanks" Oh, no. If we have to list items or something like that , we do not use MAPICS' report versions. However, I want to ask you (maybe you explained it before, I am sorry) but: under which circumstances you want this additional information to be used?
