I took a couple of people's suggestions, did a quick test that looks OK,
then rewrote a new copy to tape CL. It's running now. I will test it with
my special MAPICS environment reload CL that we use (a fast environment
refresh) this evening. If it all works right, I'll post the new CL on the
thread for everyone to look at and use if desired.
My goal is for this to function identically to MAPICS' function, only in
batch with the DSPTAP to satisfy the SARBOX people.

Sounds like MAPICS is doing something with AMSLIB to break it down into the
separate libraries when doing its backup.

Steve,
That's what I am after, to make it the same. When I do the DSPTAP after
using the standard MAPICS Copy disk backup to tape, I get four objects on
the tape:
QTEMP, AMFLIB, AMTLIB, and AMFLIB again with a file length of 1 (no idea
what that is). When I save AMSLIB or do the SAVOBJ, all the DSPTAP shows
is AMSLIB (either way).
I regularly restore my production backups into my test environment, and am
concerned that "the new way" won't work correctly.

We used to run the MAPICS backup, but it was taking too long. Now we run
our own that does an save-while-active. QINTER is down for about 2 minutes
while the SWA does its thing to get in sync. At the end we do a dsptap to
show what was backed up. We have a 3581 tape drive, it is awesome!!!
We do the MAPICS pre/post backup routines within the CL that does the SWA.
Dale you said "doesn't give me the same thing that I get when I manually
run the "Save disk backup to tape"."
What is different about it? Could you modify it to be the same?
