Steve, That's what I am after, to make it the same. When I do the DSPTAP after using the standard MAPICS Copy disk backup to tape, I get four objects on the tape: QTEMP, AMFLIB, AMTLIB, and AMFLIB again with a file length of 1 (no idea what that is). When I save AMSLIB or do the SAVOBJ, all the DSPTAP shows is AMSLIB (either way). I regularly restore my production backups into my test environment, and am concerned that "the new way" won't work correctly. Now we run our own that does an save-while-active. QINTER is down for about 2 minutes while the SWA does its thing to get in sync. At the end we do a dsptap to show what was backed up. We have a 3581 tape drive, it is awesome!!! We do the MAPICS pre/post backup routines within the CL that does the SWA. Dale you said "doesn't give me the same thing that I get when I manually run the "Save disk backup to tape"." What is different about it? Could you modify it to be the same?
