Eric, Don't know about anyone else, but I go into the JOBQ all the time and "jump" jobs around a long-running report. WARNING: be sure you know what you are asking to run against the "long running" job - you could end up with conflicts! (WRKJOBQ, work with the QBATCHn that is "stuck", change job, F10, change the queue to another queue. Don't know if that is the CHGJOB screen or not - I've never looked, but I'll bet it is.) I use this mostly for my custom (IWP) reports that run in QBATCH, but it works (and I do it) for QBATCHs 1-6 also. For example, a TRIALBAL report takes about 30 minutes on a good day, so during month-end, I constantly monitor QBATCH to make sure that other IWP reports (non-IFM) continue to run... My users also know to call me if a submitted job doesn't start running within 5 minutes of submission - that's when I go a-lookin'. Again, you must make sure you know what job is waiting in queue, and what is running, and what the potential is for conflicts. Sometimes I have to tell my end-users to be patient if their job can't be running concurrent with the "hog." -- Joan Joan McCready, IS Manager phone: 636-479-4499 MetalTek International fax: 636-479-3399 The Carondelet Division www.metaltekint.com 8600 Commercial Blvd Pevely, MO 63070 -----Original Message----- From: Eric Wolf [mailto:eric_a_wolf@xxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: Wednesday, April 02, 2003 1:14 PM To: MAPICS-L@xxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: Moving jobs from JQ to JQ To the list, Is there ever a problem moving (by using CHGJOB) a MAPICS job from one job queue to another queue? Someone told me once that this is not a good practice. Any thoughts...
