Excellent for IWP/Jacana (Oakdene) and PaperLess/MDCC (ISE)! We don't have
KBC, so I can't speak to that.

Essentially, MAPICS has contracted with the various BP's for expertise for
the most part. I've heard very good things at user's conferences about
Lexel's support also. -- Joan

And how is the quality of that support?

Not only that - put in a call to MAPICS support for IWP/Jacana suite apps,
and your support callback will be from the Oakdene group in Chicago, who
neither developed nor owns the Jacana apps. -- Joan

Put in a support call on a KBC question and you will get a return call from
TriMin Systems (unless it is a total no-brainer).

That's interesting - support comes from ISE, not the regular MAPICS
Response Line. Because of that, I figured MDCC was an application that
MAPICS was selling as an add-on to MAPICS for ISE. Hmmmm.

"Well, this isn't really a MAPICS problem. MDCC is an application written
by a business partner."

Ah, but it IS a MAPICS problem. MAPICS purchased the PaperLess
applications
- MDCC, QRMS and TMPS - from ISE over a year ago. If you want to purchase
any one, you must purchase all three from MAPICS. And if you initially
purchased two of the three from ISE and now want to buy the other, well,
let's just say that MAPICS is charging almost full price just to and the
piece we don't have.

So, yes, it IS MAPICS' problem now.... -- Joan

Well, this isn't really a MAPICS problem. MDCC is an application written
by a business partner. I understand what you are saying about green
screen apps, but I do have to disagree somewhat with the "dead in the
water". There's been some pretty neat stuff made available in COM
pick-pack-ship and such over the last year, we've really used some of it.
And they did release some EPDM green screen inquiries - that was good. It
does seem that Browser is where they are putting the bulk of the bucks,
though.

Of course, we are benefitting from some of the Browser stuff, so I may be
biased. We use Browser, EPDM (love it!), and CSM (still working out the
kinks). PM is just sorta sitting there for us today...

This is just another example that clearly illustrates where our software
maintenance dollars are going (or not going). The green screen apps are
dead in the water IMO. Don't hold your breath waiting for even the small
requests like yours to be implemented any time soon. I would be happy if
I
were proven wrong.

Does it not seem like we went back to the old days of Mapics and having to
run file syncs..... They could use file triggers and even have a tailoring
option if you want to turn the trigger on..
