Paul ---- If you really only have one trading partner you may want to consider using a third party service to do the EDI transactions for you. Last year we got a contract with Sears and had to use EDI for all business documents starting immediately. Sears has a very strict EDI testing program and while we were getting things set up and tested we used Clark International Corp to do the EDI with Sears. They take in electronic documents from the partner and change them to paper which get faxed to you. You fax paper documents to Clark and they change them into EDI. Clark is already approved for many of the major trading partners. The cost is no more than VAN charges. We installed EC and Premenos about 4 years ago. It works fine but would be difficult to use in shops that have no programming resources. To get the desired results user exit programs are needed. I would not attempt to install and use EC without attending the training class from MAPICS (Custom Systems Corp). I have been exploring some of the Mapics documentation on their EC product, as well as discussing the requierements with our local Mapics affiliate. It looks like we have a number of options and I wanted to know what are some of the more successful EDI implementations out there. What solutions did you use for the mapping, translation, network, etc? Thanks in advance for your help! Paul Paul Aultman Manager - Information Technologies Hoshizaki America, Inc.
