Steve ---- we've been doing VMI for 2 years now but have not gotten much of a return on a huge investment. We continue to do VMI with one customer (5 branches). You'll need to be able to process 855, 810, 861, 852, and 856 to get VMI going. You will also need sales history which is a non EDI transaction. You will need the VMI engine to forecast and create orders (ours runs on an NT machine). Then you will have to write the procedures to glue it all together. We had Custom Systems Corp enhance EC to handle the 852 and 861. Our 856s are done with a user written program (outside of MAPICS). The mechanism works OK but we have not seen the increased business that we expected. Think twice because it is a big investment in time and money. Does anyone have any experiences with one of these programs? How did you handle it within MAPICS? Would be interested in any wisdom you may give us before we travel too far down the path.
