Sorry Joe, you're correct about that! I was a bit fast with this statement: > 2a) If you need proof that java can do same as RPG, WebFacing will > take your complete application and converts it to the java equivalent > (html - servlets - jsp's etc...) WebFacing is included with the > WebSphere Studio for iSeries. But, then you need a web-application > server too... Preferably WebSphere. Still, WebFacing has to be considered when one wants to go the java-tour and needs a quick start to show his users/boss what the applications can look like 'on the Net'. After all, 1) the front-end is pure java/html 2) the users doesn't know that 'real processing' is still in RPG Although, to be honest, we have put it aside because of ...Performance... when executed over the internet. We'll give it another try with the next release. IBM said they put a lot of work in performance-issues. WebFaces applications are NOT converted to Java. WebFacing is a JSP front-end on the 5250 interface. The original program is still written in RPG (or COBOL or whatever). _______________________________________________ This is the Java Programming on and around the iSeries / AS400 (JAVA400-L) mailing list To post a message email: JAVA400-L@midrange.com To subscribe, unsubscribe, or change list options, visit: http://lists.midrange.com/cgi-bin/listinfo/java400-l or email: JAVA400-L-request@midrange.com Before posting, please take a moment to review the archives at http://archive.midrange.com/java400-l.
