I must disagree. A Sniffer, and similar products, work by intercepting
packets not intended for them, BUT SENT TO THEM! On a network all the cards
see all the packets, they just ignore the one not destined for them. A
sniffer tells the card to grab all the packets, regardless of the target lan
address. However, on the internet my packet never passes into my next door
neighbor's PC. I don't care what software/hardware he has, he cannot see
anything I send to the net.
