IBM thinks it's going to be the silver bullet to bring new business to the 400. It may do that, but not for a while. Until the language matures, it's going to be (for the most part) just for little things. IBM wants to cash in on the e-biz, and I've never seen them as light on thier feet as they have been trying to get the 400 "net worthy", but I don't think they're moving fast enough, if java's going to be thier saviour. But I must say, IBM's enthusiasm is encouraging. I've never seen them publicly spend as much money on anything, especially something they won't see an ROI for years. > How many of you are familiar with the SF project? I was at the news400 java decisions conference in chicago last week, and they talked about it a lot. I really think, in theory, it's the smartest thing IBM's done in a long time. As long as they don't price it out of most ISV's range, it could lure a lot of them to the 400 and other ibm platforms. If the objects are as well defined and feature rich as they promise, it makes perfect sense. regards, rick +--- | This is the Midrange System Mailing List! | To submit a new message, send your mail to "JAVA400-L@midrange.com". | To unsubscribe from this list send email to MAJORDOMO@midrange.com | and specify 'unsubscribe JAVA400-L' in the body of your message. | Questions should be directed to the list owner/operator: david@midrange.com +---
