I'm not on any specific projects yet—trying to find time to look at
tutorials, etc.

I think Java's good for the same kind of thing VB is—client/server kinds of
things. It's also good, IMO, for utilities we needed C or C++ for
before—you know, all those "nifty" things in QUSRTOOL we never could do!
There's some material available from IBM on converting C++ to Java—it may
be in that list of resources I posted a few weeks ago.
