David, I don't know how to get to the xml files. I did what you tried and
then went back and all's well. I am SP4 but I don't know that SP4 is the
solution for you. When you look at your servers list in the communications
console, do you see the new name or the old name?

Remember I got a different error message (much friendlier I admit) and,
lucky for me, I was able to recover.

I'd LOVE to change everything back. When I double click on the
Communications Console, I get the same error. And, yes, I've rebooted.

So... How do I manually edit the XML files to reset them?

David, hmmmm. I just tried this and changed my server name from AECAUX to
AECAUXRS. My server IP address or name is still a valid IP address.
However, when I open a project and try to expand any filter, I get an error
EVF1160E "Server AECAUX not active at this time". I suspect that changing
the server name should be done before you create any projects and filters
that reference the former server name. Don't ask me why.

I think what you'll need to do after you change everything back is reboot.
I'm about to try the same thing.

Okay, I did something this morning and beats the heck outta me what I
did...

I think I clicked the Communications Console, and changed the server name
from OS400A to just OS400.

Now when I try to start CodeEditor, I get a dialog box titled "Program
Error" with the text
"evfcsvrd.exe has generated errors and will be closed by Windows.
You will need to restart the program.
An error log is being created."

My particulars:
Version of CODE & service level
   V4R5M1 (I installed SP2, but still show as V4R5M1?)

... and other specs
   Win2K, service pack 2
   384 Mb Ram
   OS/400, V4R5
