David, I had weird problems like this when using OS400 and OS400A (don't remember which one was for STRCODE) as server names. What I had to do was completely remove all of the servers in the comm console and reboot. Rebooting was important or else things were screwy. Then I added a server and gave it a better name. For my STRCODE session, I pass parameters so as not to allow any *PRV and provided it a better server name that isn't used anywhere else. If you're using STRCODE, make sure you have a *CURLIB and that it is your library alone. A *USRSPC is created and things don't work too well if your *CURLIB is QGPL and other CODE users also use QGPL for the *CURLIB. I had been using CODE for a while before running into these problems because no one else was using CODE until lately. Since doing that I have had no problems.
